It’s been a long while since a new Renault 4X4 made an appearance and despite the absence the new Renault Koleos is looking good. Brought in by TC Euro Cars (TCEC), the sole franchise distributor of Renault vehicles and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holdings the Koleos is Renault’s first ever crossover.
Boasting genuine 4x4 off-road capabilities, comfort of a saloon car and cabin space worthy of a compact MPV, the Koleos has superior ride comfort with handling characteristics of a sedan and 70 liters of storage space to boot.
Benefitting from the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the Koleos is endowed with true 4x4 capability thanks to the installation of the powertrain and driveline from Nissan. The 2.5l engine produces 170 hp at 6,000 rpm with max torque of 226 Nm at 4,400 rpm and mated to a CVT transmission. Being a 4 cylinder engine, the long stroke produces ample torque across a useable rev range. Therefore, drivers can expect good fuel consumption when compared to other 4x4s. The Koleos is rated at 9.5 liter per 100km on a combined cycle; impressive to say the least.
Safety is a fundamental feature built into all Renault models and Koleos is no exception. Having scored 5 stars in the Euro NCAP safety rating, one of the twelve Renault models to achieve 5 stars to date, the Koleos has 6 airbags and reinforced body structure with programmed deformation zones which absorbs energy in the event of impact. Renault has more cars scoring 5 stars in the Euro NCAP test than any other manufacturer. One of their other cars that has achieved a 5 star rating is the Megane CC which you also see in our pages this month.
The Renault Koleos retails for RM218,923.39 on the road. For more information please visit www.renault.com.my
